Sony Ericsson posts Q3 2011 results. 22 million Xperia phones shipped to date 17.10.2011 09:41 |
Sony Ericsson has announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2011. The Swedish-Japanese company sold 9.5 million handsets during the quarter, at an average selling price of €166.
The majority of those handsets (about 80%) were Android smartphones, and SE says it shipped a total of 22 million Xperia devices worldwide since the first Xperia came out (it was the Xperia X1, launched in 2008 with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional on board).
The company reported total sales of €1.58 billion for Q3. The income before taxes was €31 million, but the net income is reported to be a funny €0 (zero) million.
Sony Ericsson’s share of the global Android-based smartphone market was estimated at “approximately 12% in volume and 11% in value.”
According to SE, the company will “shift the entire portfolio to smartphones in 2012.” |
