Remember the outages that RIM had last week? Naturally this did not sit well with many, if not all Blackberry users, and in an effort to pacify their irate users (the ones who did not jump ship, that is), come 19th of November, RIM will be offering $100 worth of free premium apps.

There’s a new and unannounced BlackBerry smartphone that’s waiting to be officially unveiled by RIM, and it’s called BlackBerry Bold 9790. Whoever got a hold of this device over at MaxPDA seems to think it's the BlackBerry Bold 9980. We're more inclined to believe it's a prototype of the still reasonably fresh 9900, given that it sports the same battery as well as the same layout for ports, sensors and buttons.

Research In Motion will lay off 2,000 of its employees, or about 10% of its total workforce, as part of a cost optimization program. “The workforce reduction is believed to be a prudent and necessary step for the long term success of the company and it follows an extended period of rapid growth within the company whereby the workforce had nearly quadrupled in the last five years alone,” the company said in a statement.

It’s been a while since we last saw the BlackBerry Monza in the wild, but the full-touch smartphone is looking as bulky as ever in these latest leaked shots. The BlackBerry Touch 9860 was snatched up by GreekBerry prior to its official unveil, who took the time to share a few images of what we can expect (perhaps in Q3) as RIM keeps trying at touchscreen devices
