Vodafone 845 will be a 150 euro Android 2.1 smartphone?

10.03.2010 11:19

Android is undoubtedly attempting to cater to a mix of consumers – just about any consumer can find an Android handset that caters to their specific needs.

Adding to the list of entry level Android handsets will be the Vodafone 845 which is rumored to sell for around 150 euros (approximately $204). That's a pretty impressive price point for an Android 2.1 handset that features a 2.8” QVGA display, 3.2-megapixel camera, 512MB of internal memory, Wi-Fi, aGPS, Bluetooth 2.1, and a 1200mAh battery. Now the unique thing about the Vodafone 845 is that it's aiming for the prepaid market by introducing it with a 1GB data bundle for free and supports Vodafone's 360 service – the HTC Legend will also feature Vodafone's 360 service at the same time. Some might consider the name a bit unappealing, but it's speculated that it'll change as its target release date of May nears – potentially it might be named the Joy and looks to be manufactured by Huawei. The Chinese company has definitely seen some good times recently and this might solidify their stance on attacking the lower end of the smartphone market.
