Samsung’s power packed Android phone has crossed the iconic sales figure of 10 million units. Samsung confirmed that they’ve sold more than 10 million units of Galaxy S II in about 5 months, making it the fastest selling Samsung device. Previously, the record was held by Samsung’s Star phone (S5230) that crossed the same sales figure in 6 months.

Lodsys who attempted to sue iOS, Android and even Blackberry developers for allegedly infringing upon its patents. Many had referred to Lodsys as a patent troll, which has been defined as a company with no tangible products of its own apart from a broad patent portfolio, and who are suing companies with money in order to gain a settlement under the possible threat of a product ban.

American adults still prefer communicating by voice over sending and receiving text messages according to a recent survey conducted by The Pew Research Center. Pew surveyed 2,277 Americans ages 18 and older between April 26th and May 22nd of this year, and found that nearly three-quarters of them send and receive text messages.

Apple has been coming on strong in the smartphone market with raging popularity of the iPhone around the world. Apple was able to pass Nokia not long ago to become the largest smartphone vendor based on shipments during Q2 2011.

We recently reported that research firm ABI forecast that 97% of all smartphones shipped in 2016 will be a touchscreen model. ABI's work didn't breakdown touchscreen models into those that do or don't offer a physical QWERTY keyboard. With that in mind, we now pass along the results from Juniper's glazing into its own crystal ball. That firm was a little more specific in its survey and thus was able to conclude that by 2016, 72% of touch screen smartphones shipped globally will have no physical QWERTY aboard.
